100 years ago, the International Institute of New England opened the doors of its Boston location with a simple but radical idea: to welcome and support people from all around the world and to celebrate the diverse heritages they bring with them. Late Bloomer created a unique visual identity for this exciting centennial year, including a bold and versatile logo that can stand alone or work alongside the existing IINE brand. We also created a microsite for the Centennial as part of a larger website endeavor.
We cherish our collaboration with this organization, which continues to provide immensely important services to immigrants and refugees from around the world. INE’s work of welcoming newcomers into the Commonwealth, while valuing and preserving their unique cultural contributions, is integral to the city’s growth, success, and identity as a city of belonging.

Our goal for the visual identity was to create a look and feel that is fun and exciting without diminishing the weighty significance of IINE’s work and mission. Using the American flag as inspiration, we created a muted palette to subtlety nod to the American experience as well as differentiate the Boston centennial from the larger IINE brand. We gave the mark itself a sophisticated museum quality, knowing that the year will include several high profile events, including an experiential “Centennial Walk” (currently in design) and a gala honoring the IINE community for its contribution to American society.
